About the Event

Golden, CO -  Should Conservatives despair?   Do the coming fall elections offer us only just another chance to get pummeled and embarassed by a leftist press, along with more dirty political tricks from the Democrats?   Grover Norquist doesn't think so.  If anything, there are several electoral trends and alliances that are even now beginning to coalesce that could very well lead to victory.  In this speech and discussion, Mr. Norquist describes and details why we should be hopeful - and actively pursuing victories in November 2000.

Grover Norquist is president of Americans for Tax Reform (www.atr.org), a coalition of taxpayer groups, individuals and businesses opposed to higher taxes at both the federal and state levels. ATR organizes the TAXPAYER PROTECTION PLEDGE, which asks all candidates for federal and state office to commit themselves in writing to oppose tax increases.  Mr. Norquist, a native of Massachusetts, has been one of Washington’s most effective issues management strategists for over a decade.  Mr. Norquist also writes the monthly column "Politics" for the American Spectator, and wrote the book Rock the House - an analysis of the 1994 elections, which has been translated and published in Japanese.

P.J. O’Rourke says, "Grover Norquist is Tom Paine crossed with Lee Atwater plus just a soupcon of Madame Defarge."
